Piwik web analytics and user tracking “privacy compliant”
This website uses Piwik in highest compliance with the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), its primary function is to analyse website traffic and tracking user actions, such as downloads or links clicked.
Automatically anonymised visitor IPs
By default, Piwik stores each new visitors IP address in the database. In the event a user has a static IP address, their browsing history could be tracked for several days, including across websites tracked within the same Piwik server.
To ensure that visitors Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is not stored, IP anonymisation is enabled, with at least 2 bytes masked from the IP.
Deletion of old visitors logs
Piwik is configured to automatically delete older logs from the database. For privacy reasons, we keep the detailed Piwik logs for 3 to 6 months prior to deletion.
Web analytics opt-out feature (using an iFrame)
Below, visitors can “opt-out” of being tracked by the Piwik server. By default, all of the website visitors are tracked, however if you opt-out by clicking on the iframe link, a cookie ‘piwik_ignore’ will be set. All visitors with a piwik_ignore cookie will not be tracked.
PIWIK IFRAME
Respect DoNotTrack preference
Do Not Track is a technology and policy proposal that enables users to opt out of tracking by websites they do not visit, including analytics services, advertising networks, and social platforms. By default, Piwik respects users preference and will not track visitors which have specified “I do not want to be tracked” in their web browsers.
