Co-hosted by ACT Alliance EU, Caritas Europa, EU-CORD and Islamic Relief Worldwide on 23 June 2020, 14:30 – 16:00 CEST.
This webinar will offer an opportunity to reflect on how to work alongside faith leaders in responding to the immediate and longer-term impacts of outbreaks, such as Ebola and COVID-19, both in policy and in practice. Speakers will debate: Why, especially in terms of COVID-19 response, is engagement with faith leaders important? What does this look like at the different levels of engagement for example, national versus local bodies? What are some of the challenges that come from engaging with faith leaders at the political or policy level? How can these be overcome? Given that the likes of the EU and the World Bank come with their own approaches, how do we find common ground?
Programme:
Keynote address by Mercy Niwe, Global Faith Engagement at the World Bank Group with case studies from NGOs and from an EU delegation Q&A Summary and conclusions by EEAS, Virginia Manzitti (tbc).
